Cover letters are important. Many hiring managers will not accept your application unless it’s accompanied with a cover letter. For this reason it is important you pay the same attention as you do when writing your CV. We will give you some great examples of effective cover letters. Each cover letter is industry tailored.

What’s a cover letter?

A cover letter is a letter that introduces your interest in a job, as well as your experience and suitability for the role. It should be sent along with your CV, but shouldn’t duplicate it. Many people use this chance to answer any questions asked in the job description and elaborate on the expertise and skills that would enable them to thrive in the role.

Job Title:  Conference Producer

Dear Hiring Manager,

As a jobseeker actively searching for a new opportunity in conference production, I was pleased to see details of the Conference Producer role on Totaljobs. I would like you to consider my application for this job.

As someone with previous experience in conferences and events, I feel the skills and knowledge I gained as a producer makes me a suitable candidate for this job.

You will see on my CV that I held two similar roles in the past. They focused on different subjects and sectors, but as a strong researcher this was never an issue for me. I can confidently research about the latest healthcare needs as well as the latest environmental issues and put together an agenda that attracts industry experts.

Whilst working for XCompany, I created the programme for its best attended event. It was a large-scale event that attracted more than 1000 attendees.

I am attaching my CV here, so you can gain better understanding of my experience.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
